Valiant Effort

The Slovenia national team had the second-best performance (after Uruguay) in relation to their population, results, etc. According to Paddy Allen and Simon Jeffery at the Guardian newspaper in the UK, Slovenia with a population of 2 million (smaller than Houston, TX!) would come in second place in the World Cup all things being equal. Considering they were drawn in a group with Algeria  (34 million), England (51 million), and USA (307 million) they achieved quite a remarkable feat.
