We began with a beautiful apple and celery salad called Solata z Jabolki in Zeleno. Starting with endives, I then adding chopped celery, apples, toasted hazelnuts, and black olives. This was topped with shaved Gouda and an Elderberry dressing.

Brodet, a traditional fish stew from the coastal region, is a Slovenian version of the French bouillabaise or Italian cioppino. The original recipe calls for 2lbs. of cod or flounder, however I substituted wild caught albacore tuna instead. The tuna pieces were lightly browned then added to fish stock along with tomatoes, onions, and white wine.  An extremely quick and delicious meal.
