Prekmurske Gibanica

This is Roman’s favorite dessert.  Like most Slovenian food, it is made with ingredients which are grown and produced nearby.  Lots and lots of butter, walnuts, apples, honey, poppy seeds, cottage cheese, and phyllo dough.  Not too sweet, very rich, and perfect for brunch with an espresso.   Roman’s great-grandmother used to make this every Sunday!  It took me two days (I prepped the fillings the day before), but worth every moment.  Recipe coming soon…
